Shopping List
Day 1
Unsalted butter, 12 ounces
Granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups
Brown Sugar, 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar, 1 pound
Large eggs, 2
Cream cheese, 2 ounces
Vanilla extract
Almond extract
1 lemon
All-purpose flour, 4 cups
Baking powder
Salt
Unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup (preferably dutch processed)
Milk chocolate, 3 ounces
Light corn syrup, 1/4 cup
White gel food coloring (My favorite food coloring brand is Chefmaster, although there are other good brands out there. This is a good basic set of primary colors plus white. Feel free to get a more diverse set.
Day 2
Powdered sugar, 1 cup
Granulated sugar, 1/2 cup
Gel food colors (colors totally up to you)
Optional: large chocolate coins or wafers for chocolate crinkle cookies, about 18
Day 3
Unsalted butter, 8 ounces
Granulated sugar, 1 cup
2 large eggs
Vanilla extract
Salt
Cornstarch, 3/4 cup
All-purpose flour, 4 cups
powdered sugar for dusting
Jam for filling, flavor of your choice
Equipment
3-4 Large baking trays or cookie sheets
Parchment paper (enough to line several trays)
Electric mixer, handheld or stand
Mixing bowls, large, medium and small ones
Rubber spatulas
Several disposible piping bags, 12-inches long. (There are tons of brands out there and you don’t have to spend tons of money. I like these, because they are economical per bag and can be used without tips. Only sold in bulk, though.
Small, round piping tips, like sizes 00 through 5. I will show decorating with and without tips.
Small, off-set spatula (this is not strictly necessary, but with be useful and is a really good kitchen tool to have around. Grab this one.)
Plastic wrap
Cookie cutters (I’ll be doing ornaments if you want to follow along, but any shape is fine)
Small and medium cookie scoops (1 tablespoon and 1 1/2 tablespoons
Rolling pin
4 cup air tight container for holding icing
Sifter or fine mesh sieve
