Ingredients
3-4 medium to large apples (tart apples are best here. This recipe is knockout with crab apples, if you can find them, otherwise granny smith, golden delicious, jonagold, or any other tart apple is a good choice) or firm but ripe pears.
Granulated sugar, 1 cup
4 large eggs
Vanilla extract
All-purpose flour, 1 cup
Cinnamon to taste
powdered sugar for dusting
Semolina flour (optional for prepping pan)
Equipment
9-inch spring form pan or a large, deep dish pie pan, or a 9x13 baking pan (this cake can be made in just about any size of pan)
Electric mixer (hand mixer or stand mixer)
Fine mesh sieve or sifter (not strictly necessary, but helpful)
