Please finely grate the cheese in advance. Graters can be dangerous for kids to use on their own, so I’d prefer they do that with an adult around. Use the small hole side of a box grate or even a microplane. You want the cheese very finely grated. Have other ingredients handy, but do not pre-measure or take any other preparatory measures until I instruct. Part of learning to bake is learning to measure out and prepare ingredients. Nothing needs to be at room temperature.
