Schedule
MONDAY - Cheesy Bakes
Make Brazilian Cheese Balls and Homemade Cheese Crackers.
Pao de Queijo are unique cheesy “breads.” This recipe is a close facsimile of the authentic ones found in Brazil and is made with ingredients easy to find in the USA. Keeping with the snacking cheese them, we’ll then make some homemade cheez-it style crackers with the cheese blend of your choice! Ingredients for this day’s camp can be cold or room temperature. It does not make a difference.
TUESDAY - Nothing Wrong with Cornbread
Make Cornbread and Quiche Crust.
There are hundreds of cornbread recipes. THE RECIPE is the one you like best. This one is a sweetened version that goes great with honey-butter. It is quick to put to gether and we’ll use the rest of class to work on the crust for our quiche.
The butter for the quiche crust should be FROZEN. If your child can not safely use a box grater on their own, please consider pregrating the butter for them if you will not be assisting in class. Otherwise, we will be doing this step together in class.
WEDNESDAY - Quiche
Make Quiche and made Foccacia dough.
This class will be devoted to making our quiche filling and assembling the quiche. We’ll throw together our foccacia dough while our savory pie is in the oven.
We will do all the chopping and cooking together.
THURSDAY - Bagels
Make Foccacia and Bagels.
My new favorite thing to make at home! We’ll make bagels and I’ll show you two ways to create that bagel shape. We will also finish off our Foccacia (don’t worry, all these breads freeze really well if you don’t have eaters for it all!).
FRIDAY - Piroshki
Make Piroshki.
Piroshki are Russian/Ukranian hand pies (Pirog is the Slavic word for “pie), but they are made with a yeast risen dough and a little more like a savory donut or stuffed bun. Fillings for piroshki are pretty limitless and can be sweet or savory. My personal favorite are the ones stuffed with cabbage. But to make things a little more American kid-friendly, we’ll make potato ones. Loosen your belts!
